Managing Director

Yolandé completed her degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology at UCT in 1996. She has worked in the field of dual diagnosis as a counsellor and coach since 2011. Yolandé is also a qualified EGALA equine therapist. Her original career was in media and business management for nearly two decades. She is the only person to have crossed Africa on a solo horseback ride in 1997. Yolandé founded Papillon and is closely involved with the career and community reintegration of clients. Yolandé through her own experience as she too has a mental illness has created a place of true healing – she was diagnosed in 2004.


Consulting Director

Khomotjo is a healthcare practitioner, specialising as a Psychiatrist, in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa. Khomotjo trained at Sterkfontein hospital and, in addition to Papillon Psychiatric Recovery Centre, has a private practice in Northern Johannesburg. She has extensive experience in dual-diagnosis treatment and the management psychiatric disorders. Although Papillon actively supports clients retaining their treating psychiatrists, Dr Matjila approves all care plans independently with the team.



Jermina works Papillon Psychiatric Recovery Centre as an integral part of the team. She graduated BCur and MBCHB degrees at Medunsa. She received her post graduate training at Wits University. She was awarded Fellowship in Psychiatry in 2011 CMSA. Jermina’s interest includes treating patients with  Bipolar Disorders, Schizophrenia, Depression, Psychiatric disorders due to HIV and Epilepsy. Currently she also works privately and is attached to Wits University department of Psychiatry.


Operations Manager

Kate Saxton is a Counselling Psychologist, and an Executive and Developmental Coach qualified in South Africa and the United Kingdom.  Since 2001, Kate has worked in the arena of Wellness and Employee risk.  She worked for a well-known employee wellbeing company in a variety of positions, for 13 years, then went on to help other companies develop and grow their wellness programmes and offerings. Kate brings to Papillon her expertise in operational management and team development. She marries her clinical skills with her business and operational knowledge to ensure enhanced success of Papillon.


Clinical & Programme Head (Clinical Psychologist)

Sharoni completed her MA Clinical Psychology degree at the University of Johannesburg. During this process, she gained clinical experience at Helen Joseph Hospital and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital. She completed her internship at Tara Psychiatric Hospital and her community service at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital. She uses an integrative perspective to understand and treat clients. She holds a core belief that each individual requires a unique blend of techniques which fit their personal life experiences.


Occupational Therapist

Raddiyya completed her BSc Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Witwatersrand. She has a keen interest in psychiatric rehabilitation and community re-integration. Raddiyya gained her clinical experience in various psychiatric hospitals and care centers around johannesburg, and, completed her community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Gauteng.


Dual Diagnosis Counsellor

Kerry completed her degree in Bachelor of Psychology at Midrand Graduate Institution (Recently renamed to Pearson’s Institution). During this process she gained experience working with trauma at Women shelters and Thuthuzela Care Center. She has worked in the field of depression, anxiety and addiction as a counsellor. She uses an integrative approach to therapy while working within a solution focused framework. She has experience in the12 Step Programme for addiction and thoroughly believes in the above programme. She is currently furthering her studies in education in order to gain further insight into the development of children.




Music Therapist

Lise completed her MMus (Music Therapy) degree at the University of Pretoria in 2009 and is registered with the HPCSA. Lise has a passion for music and has experienced the many wonderful benefits of active music-making as a strengths-based resource for a wide variety of people. Lise gained her clinical experience in various care centres in and around Johannesburg working with different population groups from children with speech delays and autism, adults with mental health needs to the elderly with dementia


Professional Coach

John Smith is a former high school teacher and guidance counsellor, currently practicing as an Addiction Counsellor, Recovery Coach, Life Coach and NLP Coach. He also conducts public talks, workshops and training seminars through his program TTK Life and Recovery Strategies.
John has worked as a professional in the field of addiction recovery, assisting people in overcoming obsessive, compulsive and addictive behaviours, including substance abuse, for a number of years.


EGALA Specialist

Marlene is part of a therapeutic team offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Nature Assisted facilitation and therapy to clients with psychiatric diagnoses including dual diagnoses as well as those who have experienced trauma. Working closely with a clinical psychologist, the team facilitate the link to self-discovery, and based on Logotherapy principles, both the client and the therapist listen to the messages conveyed by nature and our horses in a metaphorically safe environment.


Logotherapy Facilitator

Dr MA Kanda is a clinical logotherapist and anthropologist working as a medical officer in the community mental health unit of West Rand Health District. He is a logotherapy facilitator at the UNISA Centre for Applied Psychology and an e-tutor for the department of anthropology at UNISA. He offers Meaningful Healthy Living individual and group sessions.


Professional Sports Coach

Nicholas facilitates adventure therapy in the form of various activities that are not limited to physical activity but mental stimulation through word, number, memory activities and healthy discussions. Clients also explore challenges such as acrobranching, hiking and team sports.


Head of Art

Alisa is an experienced artist and art teacher with a B.A Honours degree. She has done art counselling projects with displaced people on the streets of Melville and has worked with children from the inner city, a children’s home and in a special needs school. She has a special interest in working in psychiatric recovery and been with Papillon since its inception. Her continuous training at Lefika has given her the skills to engage with clients on all levels.



Frida Willis is a registered psychotherapist and business and life coach started working in the corporate industry in 1992. Back then, Employee Assistance services were mostly geared to help employees with substance abuse issues, and the life dimensions affected by it. This reactive process did not add as much value as proactive and preventative services, so Frida expanded her scope to accommodate a more pro-active approach including life-balance, well-being and sustainable productivity. This supports the health and safety benefits for organisations.


Nutritional Expert

Megan has spent 13 years in the hospitality industry. Her flair and passion for cooking tossed with her desire to make healthy life choices brought her to where she is today. Wellness must be sustainable and must include decisions that can be carried out over years to come.


Group Re-integrator and Finance Lecturer

Cindy studied BCompt (Accountancy) at Unisa as well as attending lectures at Harvard College in Johannesburg. She had her own successful business, Scuba City Dive and Travel Adventure for 28 years. Apart from handling all aspects of her business, she and her husband arranged and accompanied tour groups on exotic diving holidays to the Red Sea, Malaysia, Bali, etc. She has been employed as Financial Manager and is proficient in Pastel, Accpac, Quick Books, etc. She is semi-retired but assists various businesses with their accounting procedures and advice.
